Title: Lead Risk Identification and Analysis

JOB SUMMARY
The team is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Group Risk Appetite Framework which entails the selection, definition, calibration of key metrics, and their cascade to countries, legal entities or businesses. There are several analytical pillars and governance steps which support this, of which risk profile analysis (including corporate plan assessment), risk identification (including external topical and emerging risk identification), and scenario analysis are key. The team collaborates with other teams for linking scenario analysis into risk appetite, appetite monitoring and reporting, and the development/maintenance of a risk taxonomy across financial and non-financial risks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Support or drive change initiatives related to the transformation of risk appetite to an integrated, materiality focused and SMART approach (specific, material, actionable, relevant and time-bound)
Business
• Review the risk identification process in line with current industry best practice and future regulatory requirements to the required supervisory standard.
• Design and execute effective ways to simplify and align with peer practice covering content, stakeholder management and communications, and workflow improvements.
• Support the recurring risk appetite processes including topical and emerging risk identification, quantitative risk analyses, risk appetite affordability, public disclosures, and the corporate plan challenge.
• Perform risk profile analysis relative to appetite, strive to present a holistic view of the risk profile and significant trends by "joining the dots" between reported metrics, business strategy and group resources.
• Perform portfolio risk analysis to draw insights from comparisons across risk types, or between different periods. Probe tail risks and understand how risks decompose into their drivers.
• Maintain the risk inventory by collecting relevant risk data from various sources (business, risk managers, reports) and by different methods (including subject matter expert polling).
• Develop clear written records of the key risks at group and legal entity level, and also attribute these to legal entities or countries.
• Solicit explanations from subject matter experts. Run workshops to validate or refine conclusions and recommendations, and formalise decisions.
• Design and execute innovative ways to simplify and alignment with peer practice covering content, stakeholder management and communications, and workflow improvements.
• Oversee applicable policies and standards to ensure that risk interconnections are understood, defined and challenged where policies are unclear, impracticable, or duplicative.
• Review and challenge policies and standards to ensure that they address critical risks, are principle based, can be tested for effectiveness, empower decision making and have been written with the end user in mind.

Risk Management
• Subject matter expertise, ability to review effectiveness of risk frameworks and risk management processes, with in-depth knowledge and understanding of Risk function fundamentals.
• Experience in designing and deploying risk methodologies, with a good understanding of risk appetite statements.
• Exposure and experience in Risk platforms and tools and have worked with technology in driving innovation and re-engineering.
• Proven track record in terms of evaluating process performance across key metrics and envisioning ways to simplify / reengineer the process to create significant improvement across all key variables.
• Strong track record of influencing and engaging in a consultative mode with various senior stakeholders across business, operations, technology, and compliance to define the strategic scope.
• Strong ability to extract information by questioning, active listening, and interviewing.
• Ability to rationalise and work through organisational change.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to study and familiarise Group frameworks, policies, and standards to provide optimal business solutions.
• Strong and demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally is a plus.

Other Responsibilities
• The typical job responsibilities are presented above but given the change-centric and expanding nature of the team’s mandate other duties and deliverables may be required.
• Oversee refinements to workflow tools and the production of management information to meet the business specific needs including current and future workflow tools to be developed over the next 1-2 years
Our Ideal Candidate
• 15+ years qualifications and experience in Risk Management, with a focus on risk analysis
• Knowledge of a broad range of capital market, commercial and retail products
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
• Experience and knowledge of risk appetite development, risk measurement and stress testing concepts
• Knowledge of industry best practices in risk management and regulatory expectations in several major jurisdictions
• The relevant experience could come from a similar role in the financial or corporate sector, or from a broad-based experience in credit/market risk management, capital management, consulting, strategy, rating agency, financial journalism, or supervisory body
• Strong creativity, problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Excellent inter-personal skills; comfortable in building relationships across teams, with outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Confident self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
