JOB SUMMARY
1. Provide comprehensive legal support to Wealth and Retail Banking (“WRB”) Singapore, covering Retail Banking products, Wealth Management and related segments, to advance the WRB strategic agenda.
2. Identify, assess and implement solutions to mitigate legal and reputational risks in WRB activities.
3. Oversee quality and costs of external legal services.
Specific Duties:
• Proactively manage legal and regulatory risks for WRB products and related segments in Singapore.
• Serve as contact in Singapore for WRB legal matters, liaising with country, group, business and functional stakeholders.
• Use technical expertise to advise on product, legal, and transactional matters, anticipate and inform relevant stakeholders of the impact of legal and regulatory changes.
• Provide support to WRB segments to resolve customer complaints and disputes.
• Support legal and regulatory risk management for WRB sales in Singapore.
• Develop appropriate documentation for WRB products and transactions and help create global templates when required.
• Support the standardization of key processes and documentation for WRB products.
• Collaborate with Group Legal and Compliance teams to ensure robust local product / provider diligence and governance.
• Ensure material legal and compliance risks are addressed and mitigated in product approvals. Review and approve the Singapore Country Addenda to Product Program Guidelines.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external business stakeholders, ensuring an open and cooperative working environment.
• Provide legal advice, briefings, recommendations and reports on material legal risks and issues.
• Efficiently manage external counsel engagement, including clear instructions and fee negotiation.

Our Ideal Candidate
• Law degree from a reputable common law jurisdiction.
• Singapore qualified lawyer with 4+ years’ post-qualification experience.
• No preference for either litigation or corporate backgrounds, but experience in wealth management or banking products, and banking and financial advisory regulations would be a plus.
• Able to exercise sound judgement on business practices, legal and reputational risks.
