JOB SUMMARY
The Product Finance role involves partnering with the business on commercial initiatives from the end to end finance perspective which includes oversight and optimisation of revenue, balance sheet utilisation, IFRS financials, understanding and providing guidance on the implementation to group financial control and risk policies with the ultimate aim of meeting the organisational objectives which include ROTE maximisation, optimisation of the usage of the balance sheet through a product perspective.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Partnering with the Markets business on the oversight and optimisation of revenue, balance sheet utilisation, IFRS financials, understanding and providing guidance on the implementation to group financial control and risk policies thereby bridging the strategic Markets product goals and those of the regional and group.
Business
- Leveraging subject matter expertise in Macro Trading and Credit Trading product areas together with in depth understanding of P&L and financial ledger representation to work with Markets business and risk stakeholders in driving towards organisational goals such as ROTE maximisation and optimisation of balance sheet usage.
- Drive the identification and implementation of key initiatives from a Finance perspective these include new Markets Products and Business Initiatives, system enhancements and the implementation of changes in accounting regulations and optimisation of the CCIB balance sheet.
- Provide financial stewardship to ensure efficient capital, liquid and RWA usage.
Processes
- Support all stakeholders which includes but is not limited to business, risk, CFO’s and Country Finance teams in providing insight into accounting issues and topics which include revenue recognition and hedge accounting from the product lens.
- Provide oversight and guidance for pre-execution and post-execution of new business initiatives, structured/bespoke transactions and new product launches.
- Support the Markets and Country CFOs in the support of product development and solutioning for the Markets product suite focusing on Financial Market Products.
- Nurture the development of a strong external/internal network through:
- Representing the Finance function in different change initiatives working with partner such as Front Office, COO, Risk, Technology etc. and provide thought leadership on strategic business, regulatory, infrastructure, accounting and finance change initiatives through to successful execution.
- Represent Product finance in engagements with Audit/Regulatory bodies.
- Working to ensure that the business areas / regions evolve their approaches and procedures to target industry best practice and ROTE optimal outcomes.
People & Talent
- Developing product level expertise across the organisation in terms of booking systems, accounting, valuation and the product life cycle management from a finance books and records perspective.
Risk Management
- Providing review and challenge of booking models across the Bank’s transaction processing systems.
Governance
- Responsible for the implementation and compliance of new trade activity with the Global Markets & Group Accounting Policy
- Providing insight on the product lens to auditors and supervisors, both internal and external audit, and regulators.

Our Ideal Candidate
• 10+ years of experience in the financial services space
• Education - Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Finance related domains
• Professional qualifications (eg CFA, CPA) preferred
• Excellent knowledge of financial products (eg FX, Rates, Derivatives, Credit, Commodities)
