- The Financial Markets Product Management function is responsible for defining the vision and driving the strategic roadmap of critical products and platforms which underpin the Bank’s services for Financial Markets clients, as well as maintaining the relationship with our internal and external clients to closely support and adapt to their evolving needs.
- One of the key on-going investments in Markets is the FM re-platforming programme, which aims to rationalize, simplify, and upgrade the Markets infrastructure by implementing a new set of strategic platforms supporting key Markets functions: Transaction Processing, Risk management, Accounting, Confirmations, Settlements, …
- These new Products and Platforms are critical to support SCB Markets ambitious growth targets, as well as cost reductions, operational efficiencies, and technology obsolescence objectives.
- We are looking for a senior Product Manager to oversee the Transaction Management Product being implemented across assets for Markets as part of this multi-year initiative, in close collaboration with Product Managers overseeing other areas of the Markets landscape. The immediate focus is on Interest Rates and FX Options Transaction Management, but the Product will scale to all assets in coming months/years.
- The preferred candidate would be an experienced Product Manager or Software Consultant with a track record of 10-15+ years in pre-sales, implementation, and ongoing change on best-in-class Products/Platforms within the Financial Markets industry for a set of demanding stakeholders.
- Strong Markets domain knowledge and technology expertise are must-have.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Own the Product:
- Responsible for defining and owning the vision for the key Products supporting Markets Transaction Management, specifically Transaction Capture and Life-cycling and their interactions with Pricing and Sales/Trader workflow:
- Working closely with Markets sales, trading desks, COOs, Operations and the wider Product Management community, define and continuously update the Product vision and roadmap, in line with respective business roadmaps and priorities.
- Be a champion for the Product and evangelize business and technology teams to gather around the common vision and roadmap. Ensure wide awareness of the Product roadmap within the COO and Product Management Community, to ensure consistent prioritization and decision making.
- Translate the Product roadmap into an actionable technology delivery backlog, in close partnership with Markets technology delivery teams.
- Identify revenue and non-financial business benefits opportunities, socialize them with key sponsors and update delivery plans to help maximize the business outcome from the Product deliveries.
- Contribute to the Markets investment budget allocation process, ensuring investment funding decisions are coherent with the Product roadmap.
Business
- Manage the Product Backlog and delivery:
- Accountable for realizing the business objectives and maximizing the measurable benefits as defined in the Product scorecard:
- Build strong, effective relationships with both the business and technology teams across Markets to enable tight collaboration on the Product roadmap delivery.
- Participate to relevant delivery meetings and agile ceremonies, providing key business guidance on the Product and taking priority decisions for the Product Backlog prioritization.
- Ensure decision making across the Product delivery is always efficient, with adequate business SMEs and technology engineers empowered to take key decisions impacting the product and business roadmap.
- Identify key priority or design decisions with large scale implications for markets and help socialize them with the relevant senior sponsors for informed, adequate decision-making on critical topics.
- Solve business challenges by proposing relevant, innovative solutions in consultation with technology teams.
- Where required, challenge the governance and/or organizational setup where it is an impediment to the success of the Product delivery.
- Ensure maximum transparency on the Product delivery progress and associated costs, through the definition of adequate data points and metrics that can be maintained and socialized frequently.
Processes
- Enable business process excellence:
- A key objective of the FM re-platforming programme is to enable the redesign of Markets operational processes evolved organically over past decades, often driven by legacy system limitations.
- The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring new Products and Platforms being deployed are designed to achieve operational excellence across our key business processes:
- Build strong, effective relationships with Markets business, COO and Operations teams to enable tight collaboration on the definition of new business processes.
- Constantly measure and assess operational efficiency and adapt the Product roadmap to improve automation and reduce operational risk to achieve excellence on Transaction Management processes.
- Contributes to documentation and socialisation of Business Process and system improvements to create sustainable business value.
People & Talent
- Collaborate with Markets Technology teams and contribute to the adoption of best practices:
- Be the senior business SME for the Product, available and approachable to delivery teams to provide functional guidance and connect them to the relevant business users.
- Deliver functional consistency across the platform by influencing key technology architecture and design decisions.
- Challenge the IT delivery teams to think outside the box and constantly improve the speed and quality of the Product delivery.
Communication:
- Own relevant communication paths such as newsletters, announcements, internal marketing, intranet sites publications
Risk Management
- Minimize operational risk associated with Transaction Management processes:
- Responsible for designing processes and solutions which constantly ensure operational risk is minimized.
- As part of core responsibilities around business process redesign, the Product Manager is responsible for ensuring operational risk is reduced by design in the Product.
- Contributes to documentation and validation of plans for operational, business and country risk assessment and mitigation.

Our Ideal Candidate
- University degree (Masters and above) in Science/Technology/Finance
- 15+ years of relevant experience in product management, pre-sales, implementation, and ongoing change on best-in-class Products/Platforms within the Financial Markets industry.
- Experience in driving Business and Technology Transformation in Financial Markets organizations
- Strong leadership and accountability
- Experience managing ambiguity to provide clarity and facilitate discussions to reach consensus on both business processes and technology designs
- Strong front-to-back Financial Markets business processes understanding including Front Office trade and order execution, risk management, Middle Office trade and cash life-cycle management, Market and Credit risk generation and monitoring, Operations processing and reporting for confirmations, settlements, client statements, Finance and Product Control accounting and P&L reporting, Compliance controls and Regulatory reporting and other ancillary processes supporting trade end-to-end processing and reporting.
- Strong technical acumen, understanding of IT architecture concepts
- Experience in business analysis and in reviewing business analyst’s requirements, functional specifications, process flows and other business and technical documentation
- Certifications : CFA or FRM are a plus
