JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Product Owner to lead the development and implementation of a centralized Data Store for Financial Crime Analytics. This role will play a pivotal part in transforming how our bank detects, analyzes, and responds to financial crime risks by enabling a modern, scalable, and secure data environment that serves stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Data Science teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategy

•    Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate a clear product vision for the financial crime analytics data store aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
•    Alignment with Business Goals: Ensure that the product strategy aligns with the broader business objectives and regulatory mandates.
•    Roadmap Development: Develop and maintain a product roadmap that outlines key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.

 

Business

•    Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the bridge between technology, compliance, analytics, and operations teams. Facilitate workshops and ongoing collaboration to gather requirements and feedback.
•    Value Proposition: Clearly articulate the value proposition of the financial crime analytics data store to various stakeholders.
•    Market Analysis: Conduct regular market analysis to stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.

 

Processes

•    Agile Delivery: Drive agile delivery of the platform, ensuring timely releases and effective prioritization across ingestion pipelines, data models, and access layers.
•    Backlog Management: Own, prioritize, and refine the product backlog; translate complex regulatory and analytical needs into user stories and data product features.
•    Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in product development and delivery.

People & Talent

•    Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment among cross-functional teams, including data architects, engineers, and governance teams.
•    Skill Development: Identify skill gaps and work with HR to provide necessary training and development opportunities for team members.
•    Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to team members to ensure high performance and accountability.

 

Risk Management

•    Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the platform meets banking regulatory standards (e.g., AML, KYC, FATF, GDPR) and incorporates appropriate controls for data access, lineage, and quality.
•    Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks related to financial crime analytics and develop mitigation strategies.
•    Incident Management: Establish and maintain processes for incident management, ensuring quick resolution of any issues that arise.

 

Governance

•    Data Governance: Work closely with data governance teams to define the structure, metadata, and security standards of the data store.
•    Regulatory Engagement: Engage with regulatory bodies and auditors to ensure compliance and address any concerns related to the financial crime analytics platform.
•    Policy Adherence: Ensure that all activities and processes adhere to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Our Ideal Candidate

Proven Experience as a Product Owner:
•    Demonstrated experience in the financial services sector, preferably within compliance, risk, or data platforms


Strong Understanding of Financial Crime Domains:
•    In-depth knowledge of AML, fraud, sanctions screening, or KYC processes


Experience in Data or Analytics Platform Builds:
•    Proven track record in leading the development of data lakes, data warehouses, or similar platforms.
•    Added advantage of experience with modern cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)


Familiarity with Data Governance and Compliance:
•    Understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Stakeholder Management and Communication:
•    Excellent skills in managing and communicating with stakeholders across various functions.
•    Agile Product Management:
•    Strong experience in agile methodologies, including backlog management, sprint planning, and user story creation.

Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Data Analytics Tools and Reporting Platforms:
•    Proficiency in using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and MicroStrategy (MSTR)


Experience with Data Science and Machine Learning Teams:
•    Familiarity with working on financial crime use cases involving data science and machine learning


Product Owner Certification:
•    Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or similar credentials.
Working Knowledge of Banking Regulations:
•    Understanding of global compliance standards and banking regulations.
