Group Internal Audit & Investigations (GIAI) in Standard Chartered Bank is looking for an experienced and technically proficient Senior Audit Manager to lead our audit efforts in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including traditional AI/ML, Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and Agentic AI. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a deep understanding of AI-related risks, controls and safeguards, and be well-versed in current AI regulations and regulatory expectations. The Senior Audit Manager role will be part of the Data Management audit team that besides AI also covers Data Quality, Data Privacy, Data Sovereignty and Records Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities reflecting the duties of this role.
Strategy
• Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies, regulatory changes, and industry trends to ensure the audit function remains current and effective.
• Provide strategic insights aimed at enhancing the organisation's Responsible AI governance and AI risk management practices.
• Support the Audit Director for Data Management in keeping-up with the key changes within the Data Management portfolio and monitor the Bank’s key programmes implementing AI solutions.
• Execute responsibilities in accordance with the Audit Charter, maintaining independence from management and avoiding any interference.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, compliance, and risk management, to ensure a holistic approach to AI auditing.
Audit Delivery
• Deliver impactful and high-quality audit work within the agreed timelines, budget constraints, and in full alignment with established audit methodology.
• Execute audit work and issue validation in an efficient and effective manner, within the given budget and timelines.
• Provide clear guidance, detailed review, and supervision of the audit team’s work, so that audit deliverables meet quality standards.
• Ability to manage the audit team members, provide coaching and mentoring to team members and lead technical auditors to deliver audits.
• Clearly identify the risks and impact of issues during issue writing, agreeing these issues with management and obtaining quality management action plans to mitigate the risk.
• Provide guidance to the team on business / audit technical knowledge and management skills.
• Champion innovation and increase the use of such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, in audit assignments.
• Track the implementation / delivery of the agreed issues and action plans for the audits assigned, understanding the key risks arising, provide advice on resolution of issues to auditees/action plan owners and escalate audit findings that remain unresolved.

Risk Management
• Perform risk assessments to identify key areas for audit coverage and assist with audit planning activities.
• Be prepared to raise issues / concerns outside the normal audit process.
• Attend Risk and Control forums to stay updated on developments and ensure key risks are monitored.
• Regularly review Management Information and reports to track key trends related to risk and control matters.
• Support the Audit Director for Data Management in writing audit opinions summarising the audit work for the Risk Committee papers or Board Audit Committee.
Stakeholder Management
• Maintain relationships with senior leaders in the Bank’s Data Management organisation, including the Chief Data Office, Compliance, and the Data Management teams in the Business.
• Manage internal stakeholders across the GIAI function.
Governance
• Assist the Audit Director for Data Management in managing Product / Country stakeholders and build relationships to improve control and risk awareness.
• Communicate findings / issues to technology stakeholders and monitor overdue issues / action plans for resolution.
• Escalate delays in audit work to auditee and GIAI management.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct;
• Should have knowledge of key regulatory requirements related to technology, specifically the requirements of key regulators PRA, FCA, HKMA, MAS, RBI.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
Qualification:
• Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related specialisations in AI.
• Experience: 7+ years of working experience, with 3 + years focused on AI technologies and techniques (e.g. Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing),
Technical and Soft Skills:
• Artificial Intelligence: Ability to identify, assess, and manage risks associated with AI systems, including fairness, ethics, accountability, and transparency.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., EU AI Act, GDPR, NIST, ISO).
• Proficiency in audit tools and techniques.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
