Job Description: 

Job Summary

•    Act as the second line Subject Matter Expert for Credit Risk on Digital Assets (DA) as an asset class.

•    Lead provision of specific expertise for Credit Risk on Digital Assets to continuously support enhancement and maintenance of DA Risk Management Approach (DARMA) which sets out the approach to risk management and the control framework within which risks are managed. 
•    Lead assessment of Credit Risk that the Group may be potentially exposed to arising from direct or indirect DA activities. 
•    Lead effectiveness reviews to assess relevant first and second line understand and accept their credit risk management responsibilities on Digital Assets.
•    Review and challenge that policies and standards are being adapted or created to address Credit Risk on DA and training is available to staff (on a targeted basis).
•    Review and challenge the assessment of DA related considerations in the Group’s Credit Risk Appetite framework. 
•    Monitor compliance to approved credit risk appetite on DA using the risk information report ; and highlight significant matters to the Chief Risk Officer, CIB, senior management and senior risk committees.
•    Support review of infrastructure to support DA reviews, and the monitoring of credit risk exposure on DA Assets and actions as required.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Influence the Group’s DA Strategy and activities, advising on alignment with specific Credit Risk Type framework, policies, standards, and risk appetite. 
•    Actively engage thought leaders in the DA industries to improve understanding of credit risk on digital assets, innovation, exploration, and adoption of alternative risk models and data sources. 
•    Conduct regulatory interpretation and associated assessments for DA related initiatives, so far as it relates to Credit Risk, with adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
•    Evaluate and advise on credit risks associated with DA projects, products and investments, including the assessment of blockchain technologies and tokenomics, to ensure robust risk mitigation strategies are in place.

Business
•    Inform the strategic intent and collective agenda for the DA Risk Management Approach focusing on Credit Risk
•    Influence stakeholders and advise DA Risk subject matter experts on Credit Risk considerations with respect to thinking and approach for Digital Asset activities, including situations where the Group seeks to engage clients heavily exposed to DAs
•    Advise Business on credit risk aspects on Group’s DA business strategy and ensure execution within the credit risk framework and parameters.
•    Direct the business to undertake appropriate evaluations of credit risk arising in DA stress scenarios with support from the Group Treasury and Group Stress Testing teams as required.
•    Provide timely advice, support and challenge to enable compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and support pro-active and pre-emptive risk mitigation of credit risk on digital assets.

Risk Management
•    Provide subject matter expertise on credit risk in Digital Assets 
•    Provide Credit Risk input in DA Due Diligence reviews on Business DA clients, products, initiatives and investments to enable adherence to DARMA.
•    Provide Credit Risk input in evaluation of DA risk assessments for confirmation by existing Business authorities including evaluation of blockchains and tokens, DA key management and wallet management infrastructure, operations and partnerships with DA third parties e.g. DA custodians, exchanges, staking providers etc 
•    Support notification to relevant regulators as required for Digital Assets
•    Exercise delegated Credit Authority for approval of credit limits on clients undertaking Digital Asset activities
•    Ensure proactive management of credit risk on Digital Asset clients
•    Ensure compliance with Credit Risk frameworks, policies, and standards for assigned portfolio of clients  

Governance
•    Support DA Centre of Excellence in running and maintaining a governance forum/committee structure to provide effective risk oversight of the DA Risk Profile across the Group. 
•    Support annual effectiveness reviews to identify improvement areas and implement necessary actions. 
•    Support review and challenge of on-going compliance with and effectiveness of the risk control environment and overall exposure and risk levels to DAs

Our Ideal Candidate

•    Strong academic background
•    5+years of experience in emerging Digital technology
•    10+ years of experience in banking / financial services specifically traded / credit risk.  
•    Expertise of evaluating financial and non-financial risks associated with blockchains, tokens, CBDCs, stablecoins and cryptocurrencies. 
•    Understanding of Digital-assets and fintech industry trends / developments, risk implications and impacts on the financial sector
•    A clear understanding of credit risks in Digital Assets 
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Knowledge of key regulatory and supervisory frameworks relating to Digital Assets
•    Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
