The FM eTrading system developments team is a specialist team responsible for the design and development of proprietary set of systems that will differentiate the bank in its core markets. eTrading systems are aimed at numerous customer markets including external customers via the internet, sophisticated customers via API/point-to-point connectivity, internal users trading on behalf of customers around the globe and finally connectivity into multi-dealer platforms.

Key Responsibilities

•    To join the Standard Chartered Bank eTrading Solutions Delivery team, responsible for software development & support using various tools & frameworks.

•    As a senior developer, you’ll be driving our platform forwards and delivering quality solutions to business-critical customer requirements. Based in Singapore, you will collaborate in a dynamic global team with fellow technologists, business analysts, project managers and business stakeholders across multiple locations. 

•    As a full stack developer with strong backend experience (mandatory), you will be expected to hit the ground running delivering quality solutions to business-critical customer requirements. Based in Singapore, you will collaborate in a dynamic global team with fellow technologists, business analysts, project managers and business stakeholders across multiple locations.
 
 Key Attributes

•    An excellent Java developer with good software design principles and the ability to write robust code and accompanying test suites.
•    Ability to write efficient, clear code and be able to articulate what has been implemented and why.
•    Self-starter who can drive/facilitate requirements and development effort 
•    Take ownership and responsibility for the full development lifecycle 
•    Experience working in an agile development environment 
•    A team player, capable of engaging with other teams
•    Experience in the end-to-end design, development, and support of financial markets systems 
•    Experience with real-time (event-driven) architectures
•    Provide second line support
•    Domain knowledge in derivatives e-trading is a plus
•    Some UI Development experience
•    Being a full-stack web developer is a plus
•    Should be able to mentor junior developers.
•    Ability to drive design and project decisions by collaborating with key stake holders
•    Potential to be an engineering manager including people management in future.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of development experience preferably full stack with strong backend experience (mandatory)
  • Strong java development background with good hands-on experience in data structures and, algorithms and concurrency frameworks
  • Sound technical understanding of Micro Services, REST API, XML, HTTP, MQ
  • Experience in Messaging systems like Kafka, distributed caching systems like hazel cast, NoSQL systems like Cassandra
  • Proven data project experience in application delivery.
  • Proven experience in complex big data development across to multiple data source integration.
  • Proven ability to drive innovative data engineering practices and architecture design.
  • Proven ability to influence others for a common goal in a large organization.
  • Knowledge in defining and implementing technology solutions.
  • Good understanding of the Financial products in the FX.
  • Must have strong sense of responsibility/ownership
  • High learning aptitude, able to learn new products and technology very quickly
  • Must be an effective communicator with business Communication literacy, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills
  • A team player who enjoys working with people on all levels as well as being able to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Master or bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, physics or related fields
  • Business Communication (verbal and written)

Role Specific Technical Competencies

  • Outstanding programming skills in Core Java with at least 10 years’ experiences.
  • Strong experience with Micro-services based architecture using Restful API.
  • Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
  • Familiar with API gateways e.g. nginx.
  • Familiar with distributed cache e.g. hazelcast.
  • Experience on messaging service middleware like ActiveMQ, Solace.
  • AWS cloud experience.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, Git, Maven, Eclipse.
  • Domain experience in FX trade capture.
  • Experience with Google Guice, sparkjava.
  • Kafka, solace / solace vmr
  • Kdb
  • FX project experiences
