Small Business credit solutions comprise of medium-term program lending products such as Business Instalment Loans (BIL) and Guaranteed Instalment Loans (GIL), as well as long term products such as Loan Against Property (LAP) and Commercial Mortgages (CM). This portfolio of products has grown on sustained basis over the past years. This role is expected to continue to build on this foundation through product and digital process innovation and data-driven portfolio management.
This role will lead the product and portfolio management, including development of new products, enhancements to existing ones, pricing management, product governance, and loan impairment management. This role will also work closely with credit Risk and other stakeholders to design lending standards aligned with the overall strategy of the business, delivering various growth enablers while staying within agreed risk-reward boundaries. The role will involve constant interactions with key markets globally and external partners for collection of market insights to enhance the existing product set.
The role requires in-depth knowledge of the small business client needs, a sound understanding of credit and other risks, familiarity with lending processes and systems, proven leadership skills, and outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Participate in the formulation of the SBL Credit strategy at a global and country level, working with the country SBL product heads, country SME heads, and Risk
•    Monitor and evaluate the competitive landscape to build a sustainable SBL lending proposition. 
•    Work closely with country teams and Group Risk to shape the credit appetite and underwriting standards in line with the growth 
     objectives and desired shape of business, while ensuring long term safety and sustainability of the business
•    Continuous improvement and simplification of our lending approach to improve efficiency and scalability. Assess and implement alternative lending models, especially those based on alternate data

 

Business
•    Own the global P&L for SBL Lending products
•    Develop new lending products, and launch enablers to increase penetration of the existing products, in collaboration with stakeholders in Countries and Credit
•    Continue to refine our program lending approach by increasing use of alternative data beyond the existing practice of using 
     bank & tax statements (e.g. data from accounting systems, eCommerce and Trade Platforms)
•    Manage with Credit the shape of our portfolio to ensure the right risk-reward balance
•    Work with analytics to have appropriate deepening and cross-sell models in place for the lending portfolio
•    Work closely with the Partnerships team to develop bespoke lending solutions for partnership-led client acquisition

Processes
•    Launch Lending products in new markets, based on the attractiveness of the economics, and help the country teams in managing a disciplined launch, including setup of necessary infrastructure
•    Ensure that the necessary campaign discipline is embedded in each key market, including playbook, campaign calendar, and results tracking
•    Minimise the cost: income ratio for SBL Lending through process improvements and channel efficiency

 

People and Talent 
•    Help develop the lending product managers in country through coaching
•    Help develop product managers training by supporting the Training and Development teams
•    Be in constant touch with the country product managers to offer support and provide guidance on initiatives
•    Regular communication with country product teams for best practice sharing and success transfer


Risk Management
•    Manage with Credit the shape of our portfolio to ensure the right risk-reward balance
•    Optimise RWA on the products using the right models, collateral management and data efficiency. 
•    Optimise cost to income ratio for SBL Lending through process improvements and channel efficiency

Governance 
•    Timely completion of the Lending PPG and the CA process.  All the country deviations need to be documented and approved by the respective governance committee
•    CAD & CET:  work with the markets to ensure CADs and CETs are renewed/regularised on time
•    Work with the audit teams to resolve any issues that may arise
•    Ensure that FCC related risks for the lending products are well-managed, while continuing to find more efficient ways to onboard and manage new lending clients

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of experience in SME/Business Lending, including product management, digital lending and platforms, portfolio growth, and profitability management.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk, lending governance, compliance, and risk-reward optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute product strategies, drive innovation, and launch new lending solutions.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to leverage analytics to identify growth opportunities and improve portfolio performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with experience working across business, risk, credit, and compliance teams.
  • Track record of driving process improvements, influencing strategic decisions, and delivering business results in a regulated banking environment.
