Job Summary
The Transition Finance and Advisory (TFA), role will support Senior bankers to drive energy transition investment banking deal origination and execution.
The role will be focused on identifying next generation transition companies, and supports existing clients in their energy transition investment banking needs. This role will work in close partnership with Coverage, M&A and IDFG teams , brings sector insight, disciplined judgement, and cross border connectivity to deliver sustainable growth across the TFA Transition Technologies portfolio and transaction revenues. This role focuses on origination, client engagement and content creation with a focus on driving commercial impact.
Further supporting the senior bankers working with clients, key industry bodies and policy makers to develop a reputation within internal and external stakeholders as the authority on hard to abate sector transition agenda.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in both origination and execution of transactions, from the pitch phase through to closing
• Support the preparation of presentation materials for use in client meetings, covering topics such as strategic alternatives, energy transition related developments, etc.
• Client engagements and management during origination and execution
• Maintain up to date knowledge on clients, key developments in energy transition landscape in the region and key players across strategics, financial sponsors etc.
• Coordinate efforts with deal team members across the Bank
• Involved in day-to-day project management and execution support
• Build detailed financial models to evaluate performance under various operating scenarios and to analyze the impacts of different capital structures and potential M&A transactions
• Complete all required credit and regulatory examinations
• Adhere to values & conduct expectations (non-negotiable) by role-modelling ethical conduct, risk discipline, client suitability, inclusion, and enterprise first leadership.
Measure of Success
• Direct contribution to SF & TF transactions: the team will work towards a target direct dollar contribution to SF / TF transactions.
• Client income contribution: the team will work towards a dollar client income contribution amount tagged to an agreed list of clients that have been identified as having a strong opportunity for increased share of wallet.
• High-quality client engagements: the team will work towards a specified number of target client engagements to complete within an agreed time period. These client engagements will be focused on where there is a real opportunity to drive commercial impact.
Marketing activities: the team will work towards producing an agreed amount of thought leadership pieces of content and participation in key industry forums
Our Ideal Candidate
• 5 + Years of experience in Energy or Energy Transition origination , including identifying and shaping low carbon client opportunities, platforms, or capital partnerships
• Senior client and stakeholder engagement, with experience advising C suite executives, sponsors, investors, corporates, or public sector counterparts
• Sector exposure across priority Energy Transition themes, ideally spanning multiple technologies and markets or regions.
• Agility, enthusiasm and commitment to stay on top of energy transition developments in the region and globally
• M&A transaction experience, financial modelling skills
• Ability to deliver under time pressure; attention to detail and a strong team player
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, Sustainability, or related disciplines
