Key Responsibilities

Business


•    Participates in origination and execution of high-quality M&A mandates in the Metals & Mining sector in the APAC region and globally  
•    Builds client rapport and relationships at appropriate levels, and actively participates in client discussions
•    Demonstrates solid understanding of the M&A processes and associated legal and regulatory framework
•    Demonstrates strong interest in and increasing understanding of the Metals & Mining secto


Processes


•    Prepares presentation materials for use with clients, both origination and execution   
•    Performs financial and valuation analyses using various methodologies
•    Builds detailed financial models 
•    Undertakes research and financial analysis of companies, markets and industries based on public filings, research reports and other sources
•    Supports due diligence and negotiations during transactions 
•    Participates in all stages of transaction execution, from the pitch phase through to execution, negotiations and closing
•    Assists day-to-day project management and execution support with capability to lead deal management for clients


 People & Talent


•    Leads through example and build the appropriate culture and values
•    Collaborates with other SCB product groups, teams and offices
•    Assists with the day-to-day management of junior team members 
•    Mentors and assists the development of junior team members


 Risk Management


•    Assists the team in adhering to all internal compliance requirements
•    Complies with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance standards and practices as defined by internal and external requirements
•    Ensures any audit and compliance issues relating to the M&A business are resolved in a timely manne

•    Is aware and understands the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

•    Takes personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct

Our Ideal Candidate

•    Has 3+ years of experience working in Investment Banking or M&A advisory 
•    Track record of M&A transaction execution, across buy-side and sell-side transactions including public markets situations
•    Experience / familiarity with the Metals & Mining industry, including industry dynamics, valuation drivers and other issue relevant to M&A situations 
•    Experience with process involved in an M&A transaction, from origination through to completion 
•    Understanding of M&A valuation methodologies including DCF modelling, merger analysis, trading and transaction comparables
•    Understanding of M&A technical and regulatory issues including corporate law and takeover rules 
•    Effective communication skills – both written and verbal 
•    Strong interpersonal skills and experience with client engagement 
•    Diligent work ethic, detail orientation and an aptitude for excellence, with ability to excel in both team and self-directed settings 
•    Ability to deliver under time pressure and manage multiple competing workstreams and transactions
