RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

•    Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.

Business

•    Operational Control (Financial Control) and Regulatory Reporting

Processes

•    Responsible for managing and controlling various regulatory reporting as well as treasury reporting processes including financial controls.

(A) Regulatory Reporting
•    Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and submission of all monthly and quarterly returns to Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and surveys to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
•    Maintain awareness of regulatory changes, implement them into reporting processes, and update the internal APRA regulatory register accordingly.
•    Respond to and resolve queries from regulatory bodies (APRA/ABS) and auditors regarding submitted returns and reports.
•    Manage the system migration to APRA Connect (new web-based platform) and develop the new report templates in accordance with regulatory requirements.

(B) Treasury Reporting
•    Ensuring precise and timely preparation and submission of key treasury reports and market risk reports.
•    Partner with GFS support team to drive automation of Treasury reports. 

(C) General accounting, financial reporting as well as controls
•    Ensuring timely and accurate month-end entries are posted in GL as per Group's operational risk guidelines and control frameworks.
•    Review and approve finance reconciliation / balance sheet accounts substantiation for SCB Australia
•    Manage the reconciliation between PSGL (existing GL) and S4GL (New GL) and communicate variances and solutions with the Project Team during the parallel run.

(E) Others
•    Manage the relationship with Global Business Services (GBS) teams and provide feedback by attending monthly dashboard and service review calls.
•    Actively participate and be involved in various projects undertaken by the Bank (e.g., roll-out of group processes/initiatives, implementation of new systems)
•    Identify process improvement initiative and setup processes and systems to help the team perform the job better and faster.

Governance
•    Oversight on the finance control activities, monitoring suspense account, review of Journal summary report etc.
•    Manage the relationship with the Shared Service Centres, monitor their performance.
•    Respond to queries from the group on variance analysis in relation to FCS substantiation and controls.
•    Monitoring regulatory developments and assess the impact from regulatory reporting perspective.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

  • Part PY/CPA qualification
  • May have 2-4 years experience & some industry knowledge.
  • Sound PC/spreadsheet skills.
  • Basic knowledge of financial accounting systems.
  • Manages general ledger & accounting systems.
