Job Summary

  • Manage and deliver end-to-end trade agenda in alignment with global and local objectives for all trade solutions.
  • Drive the enhancement of capabilities and oversight of risk and governance in alignment with the country strategy. 
  • Jointly drive the financial objectives set for the product and capabilities (P&L, Drivers, RoRWA), with Sales Team. 
  • Ensure TB Trade operates within clearly defined risk appetite.
  • Maintain strong understanding and ownership of risk across all levels for the Region – ASEAN and South Asia

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategy

  • Develop Trade strategy jointly with the FI and Corporate Sales team a local strategy to meet country objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing competitor analysis to capture the opportunities, mitigate the threats and deliver financial performance. Recommend and plan actions to build or reinforce our competitive edge.
  • Drive end to end product performance, improving efficiency through digitization and stakeholder alignment, ensuring growth and scalability.

Business

  • Directly responsible for the trade product P&L within the country.
  • Have clear responsibility over product pricing and management of assets, contingents, and the allocation of RWA. 
  • Directly responsible for driving investment business cases and the business operating model for the product line.
  • Determine standard product pricing and monitor collection of fee income for trade solutions.  
  • Directly responsible for articulating the product strategy and executing product initiatives on the annual operating plan in the country for the product in conjunction with the Country CEO and Regional Head of Trade & Working Capital. 
  • Directly responsible for understanding customer needs and developing the client value propositions that will address them across all client segments.
  • Responsible for commercialization of new product capabilities by ensuring commercialization plans, targets and infrastructure to maximize success for its launch.

Processes

  • ALM Capabilities – Work closely with ALM team to improve the liquidity as well as provide funding for USD on the request day and RMB nostro for funding. 
  • Export LCs – RMA and Bank profile setups to be done. Book CBN deals on-shore given the export market potential for Australia. 
  • Supplier Finance – Help on-board suppliers as supplier financing deals can only be booked on-shore deals, and execute agreement with VMT SG. Work with large corporates to setup local sourcing and financing business. Target large MNCs like Becton Dickinson, ExxonMobil, PZ Cussons, Saudi Aramco.
  • Receivable Purchase – Establish SLA with RSMO SG. Amend the Global insurance policy to allow AU corporates to use it. Legal opinion to book local deals. Work with local team to register charge for receivables purchased. 
  • Invoice Financing – Approve CA for local booking. Import LCs may be booked but as financing is not allowed, this is impacting our trade offering. 
  • Overdraft – Working Capital CA has been approved but needs amendment to offer OD facility. 
  • Trade Operations – Given the limited capabilities of the team, will guide the team on the booking of different trade products.   

People & Talent

  • Support the coverage team with any of their client enquiries, solutioning and pitches.
  • Sponsor launches of product enhancements, new products, as required for Trade. Develop collaterals for the local market, communicate product launches, organize customer events and develop a sales campaign strategy to ensure that new products meet planned volume and revenue targets.
  • Ensure training initiatives are executed in country in line with the global commercialization agenda.   
  • Act as the main conduit for championing to Central Product for the product line and Client Access all investment cases (BRD or PAR or its equivalent) for product development or enhancements and for local regulatory requirements.

  • Understand the needs of customers and prospects and implement structures and solutions to meet these needs ensuring delivery of Trade.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to TB sales, CIB RM and Trade Ops staff to provide assistance to facilitate the closure of large or complex deals.
  • Maintain a high level of client interaction and activity focused on strategic topics that help understand client needs and ensure an appropriate set of solutions delivered.

Risk Management

  • Identifying, analysing, and managing risks across all relevant Principal Risk Types underlying the delivery of the Trade product in the ASA region.
  • Identifying, analysing, and managing risks across various specific portfolios arising across global processes, as allocated to the role.
  • Manage a portfolio of global / regional initiatives to improve the Trade risk management platform
  • Promote and champion a strong culture of risk globally and within the region.
  • Provide strong product input to management of material risk events and stressed cases to optimise the Bank’s outcomes.
  • Develop strong relationships with 1LOD and 2LOD global stakeholders to effectively promote Trade Risk agenda.
  • Implement initiatives to improve the risk management platform (these could be inter alia regulatory, analytic driven, returns focused, product structure or transactional control related) underlying delivery of the Trade product set including strong regional follow up where appropriate.
  • Support management of stress cases with trade facilities as required.
  • Contribute to developing a strong risk culture in relation to Trade products globally via training, workshops, lessons learned etc.

Governance

  • Identify and mitigate the Operational, Credit, Regulatory and Business conduct risks relating to Trade products within the region.
  • Ensure country compliance on Group standard for Audit, Control and financial reporting, including reporting of risks to NFRC.
  • Work with operations to improve overall service standards and to ensure that quality of service to customers remains superior to competition.
  • Ensure timely renewal of country addendums (CAs) to PPGs and proactively work with stakeholders to identify and quantify new and existing risks. 
  • Responsible for leading, directing and influencing the frontline teams responsible to develop, manage or sell trade products in: 
    • Driving the correct risk culture and risk identification methodology.
    • Driving collaboration between GB and CB RMs, TB product and the TB Sales teams on client and portfolio risks.
    • Providing advisory, constructive challenge and trade risk thought perspectives on a range of risk related opportunities and challenges in country and across the markets 
  • Responsible for ensuring a sustainable organizational focus on deepening product management excellence across the organization underpinned by investment in promoting and extending the brand of the Transaction Banking at all levels of the enterprise.
