Job Summary
Strategy
• Align communications strategy and involvement to the Bank’s overall objectives and priorities.
• Develop communications strategy and messages to enhance business competitive position as well as to support the Bank’s sustainability initiatives with media activities as well as staff engagement.
• Enhance brand visibility and consideration of the Bank’s corporate culture and key initiatives.
• Leverage speaking opportunities and research reports to enhance the Bank’s thought leadership.
• Act as a ‘centre of expertise’, developing and maintaining knowledge of all business functions best practice to implement communications activities.
Business
• Work with all business functions to communicate the business priorities and deliver the key messages to external and internal stakeholders.
• Align communications strategy and involvement to the Bank’s overall objectives and priorities.
• Provide supports to other teams and projects as required.
• Understand and communicate the Group strategy to external and internal stakeholders under the area of responsibilities.
• Manage relationships with media and internal networks including business and support functions.
Processes
• Identify speaking opportunity to raise the Bank’s profile, sustainability agenda and thought leadership.
• News release draft, revision and distribution.
• Media interview planning and arrangement.
• Press conference / event development and management.
• Pro-actively pitch story ideas to the media that fit the Bank’s strategic agenda.
• Develop and maintain a network of key press contacts with knowledge of the Bank’s strategies and capabilities.
• Drive utilisation of new channels to enhance external communications e.g. social media.
• Media enquiries and issue handling.
• Timely updates to Message House once business results change.
• Proactively manage media agencies.
• Co-work with related parties on complaint cases when they arise and minimise negative media exposures.
• Holding statement preparation and circulation.
• Maintain a tight control of all issues that have the potential to cause reputational damage. Manage crisis and proactively mitigate and deal with threats that may have risk the Bank’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities
People & Talent
• Develop and maintain a network of key press contacts with knowledge of the Bank’s strategies and capabilities
• Work with business functions to create a strong communication strategy for promoting programmes and campaigns efficiently externally as well as building consensus and momentum internally.
• Identify speaking opportunity to raise Bank’s profile and thought leadership.
• Organise media training for the Bank’s spokespersons.
• Facilitate positive behaviour changes and raising the bar on conduct within the Bank.
• Ensure communications activities compliant with respective policies and procedures, including guidelines over the Pulse.
• Control and execute communications activities within budget.
Risk Management
• Take first line risk management responsibilities into own responsibilities and every general management role, follows the Group’s organizational structure, incorporating business, functional and geographic entity dimensions.
• Ensure a full understanding and effective management of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility, and actively seeking advice from specialists wherever required.
• Ensure all material risk are identified, assessed, mitigate, monitored and reported, ensure that known risks are controlled within acceptable boundaries and to consistent standards.
• Ensure all applicable policies, procedures, limits and other risk control requirements are implemented and compiled with. Ensure that applicable external rules and regulations are compiled with.
Governance
• Maintain robust business and regulatory governance standard by adhered to relevant process, policies and procedures.
• Maintain high awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the business operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
• Completion of all mandatory training needed including e-learning within stated timeframes to support the understanding of the roles for delivering effective governance.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

• Embed the Bank’s brand and values in all external communication materials.
• Perform other responsibilities assigned under Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with senior management and peers to develop projects and campaigns.
• Influence across of a culturally diverse team across functions and geographies without direct reporting line.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- With a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar role in a global organisation
- Chinese & English
