Job Summary
The Structured Trade Solutions (STS) is a team within the Transaction Banking, which is responsible for origination, negotiation and structuring of bespoke or structured trade finance solutions to meet our client needs. Consulting with clients, industry thought leadership and specialist knowledge of solutions are the way team members drive origination and then lead the structuring and negotiation of solutions. You are responsible for delivering the revenue budget for your assigned markets and/or client segments, with accountability for originating, structuring and executing transactions.
Strategy
• Contribute actively to the STS regional strategy and support execution of agreed priorities for the assigned markets and client segments.
• Support and, where appropriate, lead thematic industry discussions with clients, coverage teams and product partners.
• Identify opportunities to replicate relevant transactions within and across industries, subject to client suitability, risk appetite and governance requirements.
• Help deliver a consistent client experience while reflecting local market, regulatory and execution requirements.
Business
Solutions Development & Delivery
• Based on a sound understanding of industry dynamics and structured trade solutions, identify client opportunities, engage consultatively, and help convert them into executable transactions that address client needs.
• Provide practical input to product partners on key product requirements to be develop or product variation that is considered as standard in local market.
Financial Management – Product P/L Management
• Contribute to budget delivery through active origination, execution and portfolio discipline across:
o Originating new revenue opportunities
o Maintaining and growing existing deal revenue
o Driving utilisation of approved facilities
Key Responsibilities
People & Talent
• Demonstrate leadership without direct reporting lines by working collaboratively with senior transactors, coverage teams, product partners and control functions to identify client opportunities, structure practical solutions, mitigate risks and ensure process risks are identified and managed.
Risk Management
• Articulate to clients, risk teams and other stakeholders how a proposed solution meets client needs, improves efficiency, supports growth, mitigates risks and, where relevant, enables wider investor participation.
• Develop and apply strong knowledge of legal, regulatory and market considerations relevant to structured trade solutions in assigned jurisdictions, escalating specialist matters where required.
• Takes the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational, and ethical matters by providing proactive advice to clients and sales teams
• Ensure personal adherence to high standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations.
• Ensure appropriate inputs are incorporated in credit memo / Term sheet / Pre-Screening review, etc
• Actively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters for the region and delivery mechanisms relevant for the industry globally, in a timely manner
Governance
• Demonstrate accountability for all deal-related risks within own transactions by applying appropriate governance standards and seeking guidance where matters are complex or ambiguous.
• Identifies and mitigates deal level operational, credit, regulatory, legal, fraud and risks in the processes via a business Conduct lens.
• Ensures the relevant approvals (including compliance with relevant deal review guidelines) for a transaction or client engagement are sought and can be produced for an audit review at any point in time
• Take the lead and work with Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime Compliance stakeholders to identify relevant risks and apply appropriate mitigation processes.

• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Qualifications
• Core Credit and Risk Management Certification completed or to be completed within 12 months of joining the team.
• Relevant credit and risk management training completed or to be completed within 12 months of joining the team, as required by role and policy.
• Have worked across multiple regions and with large clients
• Have delivered complex or bespoke transactions for at least 3 years, including experience in syndicated deals, distributor finance, receivables programmes and structured trade finance transactions, with demonstrated transaction execution and stakeholder management skills.
• Understands nuances of working with third party platforms/fintechs, structures and risks involved
• Have worked on securitisation, receivables purchase and supplier finance transactions
• Total years of relevant experience: typically 7+ years
• Strong risk analysis skills
• Articulation and brevity while knowing the details is a key
• Multi-cultural and geography experience is a positive.
• Ability to speak, read and write Chinese is an advantage
