Title: Head of Trade and Working Capital, Taiwan

JOB SUMMARY
- Manage and deliver end-to-end trade agenda in alignment with global and local objectives for all trade solutions.
- Drive the enhancement of capabilities and oversight of risk and governance in alignment with the country strategy.
- Drive the financial objectives set for the product and capabilities (P&L, Drivers, RoRWA).
- Ensure TB Trade operates within clearly defined risk appetite.
- Maintain strong understanding and ownership of risk across all levels for Taiwan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Develop local product strategy jointly with Corporate Sales and FI Sales team to meet country objectives and in line with the overall TB strategy (e.g., sustainability agenda, digital strategy, network, and client obsession with differentiated solutions)
- Gather and understand customer needs / business requirements, translating ideas into products, defining structure features (e.g., regulatory, liquidity), conducting competitor research and defining pricing strategy in collaboration with Business Development, Relationship Managers, Sales, Product Development and Structuring team to Collaborate with Data Solutions and Analytics team to leverage on market and client data to identify business opportunities.
- Execute the agreed Trade & Working Capital strategy for Taiwan.
- Commercialize Trade product capabilities.
Business
- Drive the overall Trade performance for Taiwan.
- Drive initiative for country trade portfolio optimization on return and RWA.
- Be thought leaders on innovative product offerings and keep abreast with emerging industry developments and market trends to enhance the Bank’s product offerings (e.g., API, sustainable finance)
- Oversee respective products’ governance, including product growth strategy, product quality and risk management.
- Assist the training of TB Sales staff and RMs in relevant Trade products and platforms; develop appropriate country sales and marketing material, including pitchbooks, product sheets and educational information.
Processes
- Own all the Trade & Working Capital processes allocated in the Country as part of the Group’s process universe.
- Responsible for management of the processes supporting the Trade business (in line with the Group’s process universe as set out in the Group Operational Risk Framework for the country) and associated risks including activities which are carried out by other businesses or functions or which are hubbed or outsourced.
- Review and drive end-to-end process simplification and streamlined.
- As local product owner of assigned product, to comply with the roles and responsibilities stipulated from group product governance handbook, and “Product Approval and Governance Guide” approved by SCB China’s Risk Committee
- Accountable to risk control owners and/or Group policy owners for the implementation of policies and control standards set by them, ensuring compliance, and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite.
People & Talent
- Champion and act as a role model of the Group’s values and culture in the country
- Provide effective leadership across Trade and Working Capital business to promote sustainable high quality business performance.
- Build a top team capable of ensuring delivery of the business’ short and longer-term objectives through:
- Coaching, guidance, and management of the team to ensure they deliver against the financial, non-financial and risk/control objectives.
- Identifying and addressing the top issues/opportunities for performance improvement across the team.
- Driving an environment of collaboration, both within the team and across the wider Group, to ensure issues are raised and blockages are resolved in a timely manner.
- Developing succession plans that identify gaps in bench-strength; subsequently implementing action plans to ensure ready-now talent is available.
Risk Management
- Take the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational, and ethical matters, and taking the initiative for providing proactive advice to clients as identified. Coach and manage the team in these matters and ensure they are adequately trained in and cognisant of regulatory, reputational, and ethical risks.
- Monitor, respond and manage any risks that may arise through the product development lifecycle (e.g., products’ quality risks related to evolving clients’ needs and market trends)
- Where applicable, ensure credit, operational, legal, regulatory, reputation, compliance are held to the highest standards of risk management (at a product and enterprise level as relevant)
- Keep abreast with regulatory changes to ensure TB products are compliant with relevant risk management guideline (e.g., electronic banking, technology, ESG standards)
- Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job holder’s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate escalation to Regional / Country Heads and Group/governance committees, as appropriate.
Governance
- Build strong & deep relationships with regulatory authorities and local industry bodies, and ensure the business is ahead of the regulatory change agenda.
- Review and ensure country product conduct guidelines, pricing guideline and discipline, and deliverable solutions, where appropriate
- Identify and mitigate the Operational, Credit, Regulatory and Business conduct risks relating to Trade products within the region.
- Ensure country compliance on Group standard for Audit, Control and financial reporting, including reporting of risks to NFRC.
- Work with operations to improve overall service standards and to ensure that quality of service to customers remains superior to competition.
- Ensure timely renewal of country addendums (CAs) to PPGs and proactively work with stakeholders to identify and quantify new and existing risks.
Regulatory & Business Conduct

- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Qualification
- Education Bachelor / Master’s degree in business management or finance and with at least 10 years solid experience in trade related product management / Sales domain
- Languages Proficiency in Mandarin and English
