Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support our Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Americas Data team. The analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders to provide data mining, statistical analysis, and management information (MI) reporting to drive decision-making and risk assessment. The role involves using advanced analytics, automation, and visualization tools to optimize processes and support compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Perform advanced data mining, visualization, and analytical support for FCC teams.
  • Solution Development: Design and implement end-to-end data solutions, including low-code ETL frameworks, SharePoint, Oracle PL/SQL, Python automation, and Tableau dashboards.
  • Transaction Surveillance: Conduct transaction monitoring analytics, issue remediation tasks, and MI reporting to enhance risk detection and compliance.
  • Ad-hoc Data Support: Address urgent FCCA requests for data insights, analytics, and reporting.
  • Risk Assessment: Support FCC risk assessments, ensuring data integrity and conducting inherent risk analysis.
  • Process Optimization & Automation: Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to bank policies, internal audit standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with FCC Investigations, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Governance teams to support business objectives.
  • Business & Risk Awareness: Maintain an understanding of the business environment, regulatory landscape, and associated risks.
  • Governance & Ethics: Uphold the highest standards of ethics and compliance, in alignment with the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of study, from an accredited institution, or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced degree will be viewed positively.
  • 5-6 years of experience in a large multinational financial institution, consulting firm or law firm
  • 5+ years of experience in programming (Python, SQL), analytics and data.
  • Hands on experience with statistical analysis.
  • Abilities to translate business questions into analytical solutions (pipelines/dashboard for analytics and Machine Learning models/algorithms) and to select the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
  • Ability to manage and own projects.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the key products or services provided by the business / function, and the processes and controls that underpin them.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of compliance regulations, knowledge of global procedures and policies, including a core understanding in AML, Sanctions, CDD or Anti Bribery.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the SAR process.
  • Has the ability to interpret complex information and determine the research and analysis required to extract facts that can be objectively supported. As indicated above, an understanding of the way the MI being generated will be leveraged is necessary to ensure that deliverables are being executed in a manner that is fit for purpose.
  • Clear, concise communication style (written and verbal); demonstrates engaged listening skills; able to maintain composure in a stressed situation.
  • Personal Agility - Agile and receptive to change. Positive and solutions oriented.

  • Statistical, time-series, and predictive modelling, as well as NLP, machine learning, forecasting and optimization
  • Statistical data analysis techniques such as multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 70,000 USD to 106,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
