Treasury works closely with senior management, the businesses, Country CEOs / CFOs, and Finance to manage and promote the bank’s liquidity, capital, and balance sheet position. The Treasury Strategic Transformation Lead is responsible for shaping and delivering Treasury's transformation agenda across their domain, acting as a strategic partner to Treasury leadership and driving end-to-end business outcomes.
The role combines strategic thinking, operational excellence, process optimisation, technology modernisation and disciplined execution to translate Treasury's vision into measurable value. The Transformation Lead owns the transformation journey across their domain, from strategy and capability development through execution, adoption and ongoing optimisation.
Working in close partnership with Treasury Management Team (TMT), Technology, Finance, Risk and key stakeholders, the role focuses on simplifying processes, enhancing decision-making, modernising ways of working, improving controls and unlocking sustainable value through data, technology and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
Shape and Steer the Vision
• Co-design the transformation vision, strategy and roadmap with Treasury Global Heads and Treasury Management Team.
• Translate Treasury's strategic objectives into prioritised transformation initiatives and capability roadmaps.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls, improve decision-making and enhance business outcomes.
• Rebalance effort away from production activities towards value-add activities, strategic decision-making and optimisation.
• Drive alignment between Treasury, GCFO and enterprise strategic priorities
Horizon Scanning and Innovation
• Continuously assess market, regulatory, industry and technology trends.
• Leverage emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to identify opportunities for efficiency, scalability and improved decision-making.
• Challenge existing ways of working and promote innovative approaches to Treasury management.
• Translate external insights into practical transformation opportunities for Treasury.
End-to-End Domain Ownership
• Own transformation outcomes across the assigned Treasury domain from strategy through execution and operational optimisation.
• Act as the primary transformation partner to business stakeholders and domain leadership.
• Drive accountability for both strategic outcomes and operational performance.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable and aligned to Treasury's long-term objectives.
• Enable high-quality management information, data and insights to support business decisions and control effectiveness.
Business Outcome Focus
• Establish and track business outcome-linked KPIs and measurable value realisation targets.
• Ensure transformation initiatives are aligned to Treasury and domain objectives.
• Drive a culture focused on outcomes, business benefits and continuous optimisation.
• Regularly assess effectiveness of change initiatives and identify opportunities for further value creation.
Business
• Be a fearless leader in driving the adoption and associated operational benefits of the strategic technology
• Proactive in seeking regular assurance that the teams are performing to an acceptable risk and control standard.
• Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.
• Include all necessary internal, legal and regulatory controls through the development of Global Finance requirements.
• Balance business performance delivery and cost management constraints with risk and control matters to ensure that they do not materially threaten the Group’s ability to remain within risk appetite.
Processes
Operational Excellence and Process Optimisation
• Lead process simplification and optimisation initiatives across Treasury.
• Partner with Global Process Leaders and business stakeholders to improve effectiveness, efficiency and controls.
• Drive standardisation, automation and straight-through processing opportunities.
• Embed operational excellence principles across Treasury processes and ways of working.
• Challenge legacy practices, remove inefficiencies and promote continuous improvement.
Execution Against Roadmap
• Maintain a clear and prioritised transformation backlog aligned to strategic objectives.
• Drive targeted execution through strong cross-functional partnerships.
• Ensure initiatives deliver measurable business value and strategic outcomes.
• Monitor progress, dependencies, risks and benefits across the transformation portfolio.
• Support governance forums with concise, business-focused reporting and recommendations.
Partnerships
• Build trusted partnerships across Treasury leadership, Technology, Risk, Finance and Operations.
• Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and strategic recommendations.
• Align stakeholders around common objectives and outcomes.
• Drive a "one team" culture across Treasury and transformation teams.
• Act as a connector across domains to identify opportunities, dependencies and shared solutions.
Technology and Innovation
• Drive adoption of strategic technology solutions and modern ways of working.
• Ensure technology investments deliver measurable operational and business outcomes.
• Support the evolution of Treasury tooling, automation and analytics capabilities.
• Promote AI-enabled and data-driven decision-making across Treasury.
• Partner with Technology teams to shape future-state capabilities and innovation opportunities.
Risk Management and Governance
• Ensure transformation initiatives operate within regulatory, governance and control requirements.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance and Control functions to maintain a strong control environment.
• Identify emerging risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
• Advocate for Treasury priorities while balancing business objectives and regulatory obligations.
• Support regulator-ready, resilient and sustainable Treasury operating models

Our Ideal Candidate
• 15+ years of experience leading strategic transformation within Treasury, Finance or a related banking function.
• Strong experience translating strategy into execution and measurable business outcomes.
• Experience driving process optimisation, operational excellence and organisational change.
• Experience designing and implementing target operating models and capability-led transformation.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and operate as a strategic advisor.
• Experience leading change in a complex regulatory and technology environment.
• Experience identifying and delivering value through data, analytics, automation and technology modernisation.
• Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups within a large global organisation.
