Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join our dynamic technology team based in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. This pivotal role involves steering the successful delivery of cutting-edge, innovative products and solutions that align with the strategic goals of Standard Chartered. You will provide expert technical leadership to multiple engineering squads, driving excellence and innovation throughout the product lifecycle. You will work closely with diverse teams including product management, user experience design, and operations to ensure robust, scalable solutions that meet business needs. This role demands strong strategic thinking, proactive problem solving, and a commitment to maintaining high standards across all technical deliverables. As the Engineering Lead, you will champion best practices in software engineering, advocate for architectural integrity, and ensure seamless integration of multifaceted systems. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
• Develop and execute comprehensive technology strategies that align with both immediate project needs and the long-term vision of the organisation.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex, enterprise-wide technical solutions, ensuring seamless integration across multiple platforms and systems.
• Collaborate with Subdomain Tech Leads to shape and refine technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
• Provide insightful analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Drive technical assessments and compliance activities, including audit readiness and vendor evaluations in partnership with procurement teams.

Operational Excellence
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical challenges, swiftly resolving impediments to maintain project momentum.
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence by setting high standards for code quality, documentation, and technical delivery.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners to prioritize backlogs based on business value and technical dependencies, ensuring timely delivery of key capabilities.
• Oversee and mentor multiple engineering teams (squads or hives), fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Bring knowledge of Wealth management technologies, with a preference for expertise in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, to enhance domain-specific solutions.

Process Optimization and Governance
• Lead initiatives to streamline engineering processes, increasing productivity, quality, and cross-team collaboration.
• Identify and address dependencies across projects to minimize delivery risks and improve timelines.
• Champion solution standardisation and promote the reuse of services and components.
• Define and uphold frameworks and standards that support product development and maintain alignment with enterprise technology policies.
• Work in partnership with IT Change and Release Management to architect strategic release plans that optimize feature deployment and system stability.
• Encourage a learning environment where engineers are motivated to pursue technical growth and excellence.

The Engineering Lead will play a vital role in shaping the technical strategy for FX & Equities within the Wealth & Retail Banking technology division, ensuring that solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of financial technology systems and the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical architectures. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to balance competing priorities and make well-informed decisions that support both technical integrity and business agility. Qualifications

• Educated to Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines, providing a solid foundation in technical principles and problem solving.
• Holding professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified ScrumMaster, evidencing expertise in cloud technologies, project management practices, and Agile methodologies.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Demonstrable understanding of compliance and governance frameworks within regulated industries.

Skills and Experience

Application Delivery and Project Leadership
• Extensive experience leading complex software development projects from inception to successful delivery within large enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects with competing deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Expertise in Agile methodologies, including the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), supporting iterative development and continuous delivery.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Practical examples of successfully navigating complex project challenges, delivering outcomes aligned with business objectives.

Technical Expertise
• Deep engineering knowledge with the ability to engage in technical discussions regarding APIs, databases, system integrations, and coding implications.

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including service provisioning and infrastructure management.
