Job Summary

Director of Governance Services will be responsible for driving strategic documentation and initiatives, governance for T&O, setting the frameworks, guidelines, and approach for the Business Planning Manager (BPM) community, and provide governance and quality support for the T&O MT. This role will ensure that our governance practices are robust, consistent, and aligned with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the champion for propagating, continuous and active risk mgmt. culture in the team and also creating seamless processes for understanding and managing the risks in T&O Governance.
  • Stay on top of actions emanating from audit, governance forums and other such bodies to ensure timely and active mgmt. of all such actions.
  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment within the T&O Governance organisation.
  • Ensuring a risk lens is applied to everything we do to ensure the right risk culture within your team and the broader T&O Governance business.
  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group, as well as have firm treatment plans for all such risks and delivering on the treatment plans. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.
  • Interpret the Group’s financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment within the T&O Strategy organisation.
  • Maintain relationship with Group Internal Audit / 2LoD / 1st Line Risk, supporting the T&O MT to meet and manage commitments, paper submissions, etc.
  • Support all governance papers and submission on behalf of the Group COO, ensuring quality and timely submissions in partnership with 1LoD and 2LoD.
  • Support the establishment and operation of an internal control framework to provide management the necessary assurance by conducting proactive assessments on agreed frequency for all critical governance forums.
  • Evaluate the impact of new and changing firm-wide / industry wide / governance requirements and enhance the governance framework on an ongoing basis to maintain its adequacy.
  • Regularly support the internal Governance Forum to demonstrate robust management control approach & awareness.
  • Ensure necessary management awareness and focus to critical issues / actions originating from all group governance forums.
  • Maintain oversight of critical actions, commitment and accountabilities for the T&O MT for all Group Governance forums.

Skills & Experience

Regulatroy exposure and Requirements: 

  • 10+ years in regulatory engagement, regulatory horizon-scanning, risk governance, non-financial risk management, or related field.
  • Track record of helping manage regulatory engagements, particularly regulators in key markets (e.g., PRA).
  • Coordinate and produce regulatory related communication and information pack, including exam management.
  • Prior experience performing regulatory horizon-scanning and regulatory analysis or related activities preferred.
  • Prior experience managing regulatory requests for information preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations on technology risk, information & cyber-security, operational resilience, data & AI, and third-party risk.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Law, Business Administration, Technology, or a related field.
  • Understanding of managing regulatory change, especially as pertains to technology, information & cyber security, operational resilience, data & AI, and third party in a large (financial) institution beneficial.
  • Prior experience in project management, exam management, and committee governance management preferred.
