Title: Human-Centered AI Data Scientist, Strategy and Talent

Job Summary
As a Human-Centered AI Data Scientist for Strategy and Talent (S&T) at Standard Chartered, you will work at the forefront of empowering human-centered and trustworthy AI adoption across S&T from vendor-provided and internally-developed AI systems. This role is central in guiding and assessing the human and ethical implications of AI systems and integrate good understanding of AIML techniques and Generative AI technologies with ecosystem thinking, AI stewardship, and strong sensitivity to human impact such as fairness, transparency, literacy and psycho-socio-cultural factors.
You will collaborate on a wide range of product and business problems with a diverse set of cross-functional stakeholders such as but not limited to Human Resources, Corporate Affairs and Brand Marketing, CRES, Supply Chain Management, Group Strategy, Chief Data Office, Technology, Businesses, Conduct and Compliance, and Legal to ensure responsible adoption of AI solutions across S&T contributing towards Group AI Strategy.
- AI-innovation: guide teams on AI use case ideation with a human-centered AI approach, assess technical readiness and feasibility of AI use cases into the Change Office, design meaningful AI value and impact metrics on productivity and experience
- Human-centered AI: create ethics by design framework for application across both vendor and internal deployment, drive experimental designs and research on AI systems to deepen human-AI collaboration and human factors impacted by and impacting AI systems,
- AI stewardship: Champion ethical and trustworthy AI practices abiding by Group RAI Standards, Code of Conduct, and D&I principles; upkeep with global AI regulations; Help grow AI literacy across our S&T HCAI operations
- AI safety and AI governance: Assess, evaluate, and validate AI capabilities embedded AI use cases such as performance, explainability, bias/fairness reports, AI ethics against organizational standards; design behavioral app tests where necessary
- Cross-functional collaboration: collaborate with AI Safety, Model Risk, Conduct and Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure third party and in-house models meet AI-related governance requirements within, including documentation, monitoring, and global AI regulations
- Communication and influence: Translate, convince, and influence S&T business and cross-functional stakeholders using clear insights, use cases, and recommendations in approachable and simple terms. You will build credibility through structure, clarity, and socialization
Skills and Expereince
Required/Minimum qualifications
- Masters in human-computer interaction and behavioural sciences OR bachelors in cognitive science, data science, computer science, applied statistics, or related discipline
- 5+ years of work experience, preferably in a highly regulated industry
- Real world experience and exposure with machine/deep learning, artificial intelligence, statistical analysis and modelling, natural language/computational linguistics, computer vision, signal processing, and/or generative AI
- Aware of AI ethics, AI risk, human-centered AI, model and data governance practices and HR-related AI regulations and policies
- Experience influencing and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders and third-party vendors
- Effective business communication skills including but not limited to vendor management, data translation, and data storytelling skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MPhil, or Doctorate in Human-computer interaction, Computational Linguistics, Behavioral Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence
- Familiarity with AI legal and regulatory requirements for the financial industry
- Hands-on experience on AI ethics and data ethics governance
- Practical experience with genAI (LLMs/RAG), dataiku, databricks, MLOps, and both SQL and noSQL database design, queries, and storage
- Awareness of best practices in testing bias, fairness and stability, and ability to understand results from risk management
- Experience in industry best practices of model risk management and AI fairness and explainability, including model validation, reproducibility, statistical and engineering process control, quality assurance, and data/model shift
