Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Java-based applications for pricing and risk management.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for new features and functionality.
  • Collaborate with senior developers and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
  • Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL) to help support data storage and retrieval for financial applications.
  • Assist in testing and debugging to ensure high-quality, bug-free code.
  • Participate in code reviews and learn best practices for software development.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, including agile practices.
  • Keep up with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to contribute fresh ideas to the team.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and provide updates on project progress.
  • Do whatever it takes to maintain stability, availability and performance.
  • Provide Production L3 support as required.
  • Question / Challenge anything you see from your peers or the wider squad that isn’t up to standard.

Skills and Experience

Required Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development, with a focus on financial applications.
  • Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Guice, Grpc, etc.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and software development best practices.
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL (NoSQL experience is a plus).
  • A basic understanding of financial products and markets (knowledge of pricing and risk management concepts is a plus).
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow professionally in the financial technology space.

Preferred Skills  

  • Exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or front-end frameworks (Angular, React) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a bonus.
  • Understanding of financial data sources and market feeds is beneficial but not required.
