Job Summary
SABRE (Standard Chartered’s Analytics Booking and Risk Engine) is the bank’s strategic risk and PnL platform for Financial Markets. The development team delivers advanced technology solutions supporting global trading and risk management. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly skilled, international team of technologists, contributing to the design and implementation of scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant solutions. The successful candidate will take ownership of key components within the SABRE Strategic Risk Management Platform, developing innovative solutions and collaborating with global stakeholders to deliver business value in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver Java components for internal business users within the SABRE platform.
- Apply systematic and disciplined approaches to architecture, system design, and coding.
- Implement best practices in software engineering, writing robust and testable code with high coverage.
- Work closely with the Development Manager, Project Manager, and other developers to ensure timely delivery.
- Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
- Coordinate with other technology teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including program descriptions and operational procedures.
- Provide second-line support during production incidents and contribute to their resolution.
Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of hands-on Java development experience in a high-performance, concurrent environment.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- Background in investment banking IT systems or financial markets technology.
- Experience with tools and frameworks such as Haskell, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Scala (advantageous).
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
- Solid understanding of TDD and BDD methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver under pressure.
- Collaborative and culturally aware, able to work effectively in a global team environment.
- Understanding of financial instruments, derivatives, and risk management processes.
- Knowledge of risk measures, market data, and trading systems.
- Experience with functional programming (e.g., Haskell) and data grid technologies is a plus.
