Title: Associate, Economic Capital Risk and Platforms

Job Summary
Contributes to capital management and reporting process of Standard Chartered’s European bank (SCB AG). Is responsible for developing and operating SCB AG’s ICAAP solution, primarily the Credit and Counterparty Credit Risk Model - a Python and R based tool designed to support the sustainable growth of SCB AG, optimal decision making and meeting regulatory obligations. Other tasks may include stress testing design and implementation and other ICAAP-related endavours.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration with Group risk modelling, stress testing and finance functions and solutions to deliver output aligned with local regulatory requirements from BaFin, the Bundesbank and the EBA.
- Support tooling development by partnering with the product owner to document business needs and ensure controlled implementation aligned with Standard Chartered standards.
- Running the tooling includes obtaining, transferring, and refreshing data, executing the Python tooling, and supporting analysis of the outputs including exceptions reports and identifying root causes of errors and remediating them.
- Establish and maintain appropriate procedures and controls suitable for generating data used for regulatory submissions.
- Align with the Group’s strategy for developing similar tools.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Operate the SCB AG ICAAP tooling effectively.
- Ensuring all relevant risk management requirements are met, including IT security, and traceability of data.
Skills and Experience
- 2+ years’ experience & knowledge in Risk (in particular: bank capital or stress testing) or other financial (e.g. Treasury, Asset-Liabilities Management) tooling and modelling.
- Familiarity with credit risk, counterparty credit risk and capital requirements in a bank / financial institution.
- Understanding of balance sheet structure, financial data, banking products.
- Experience navigating through complex system setup / data sources reconciliation to perform business analytics.
- Experience in running Python, R, SQL code and accessing data stored in PostgreSQL.
- Experience in operating / running data analysis and manipulation toolchains.
- Experience in documenting and reviewing business requirements for developers to implement.
- Experience in establishing operating controls on data systems.
- Exposure to business / data architecture principles and methods.
- 3+ years’ experience in Agile delivery.
- Experience in data science principles and practical application in risk modelling.
- Experience in capital requirements and regulatory reporting.
- Experience in platform development and management for analytical tools.
- Experience in model development and performance monitoring.
- Be pragmatic, weight competing priorities and strive for optimal balance between quality of delivery and effort/time spent.
- Ability to take an integrated approach; work through ambiguity to recommend high-level decisions based on business materiality and best available information.
- Proactively think through and identify area of risks, propose, and execute mitigation plan to the management and stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile setup, multi-cultural teams, and with a wide range of stakeholders.
