Title: Associate Director, ESGR Risk Management, CIB

Job Summary
The Associate Director Environmental, Social, Governance and Reputational (“ESGR”) and Net Zero (“NZ”) Risk Management role is to help manage ESGR (including Climate) risks with a focus on outbound, environmental and social non-financial risks. The role will operate in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management framework and embed the policy framework of CIB Climate Credit Risk Standard and Non-financial ESG and Reputational risk management standard in fulfilling the requirements of second line oversight and challenge to key stakeholders across the Group for ESGR risks. The role will have a focus on specific Non-financial ESG and Reputational risk issues to ensure alignment with the Bank’s referenced environmental and social standards and in line with Bank’s risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and / or supporting on review and challenge of Reputational Risk and E&S matters and to ensure financial services (including advisory services) are carried out in compliance with the Bank’s referenced environmental and social standards (including the Equator Principles) and this is captured accurately as part of the bank’s ESGR risk assessments. This will require but is not limited to:
o Review and Challenge of Financial and Non-Financial ESGR assessments forms completed by the frontline (including RRMA, ESRAs and CRAs).
o undertaking ESG&R due diligence where relevant on transactions where referred - Oversight and Challenge on first line activities
- Identifying mitigations to gain comfort on risks, with a focus on outbound E&S and Reputational risks.
- Preparing and reviewing committee papers or support senior members of the team on assigned cases
- Summarising key risks and trends as part of Case MI/Reporting
- Driving the development, promotion and implementation of the Group’s sectoral Position Statements
- Actively liaising with front-line teams across the Group but specifically Client Coverage, Sustainable Finance, DCM, Corporate Finance and Trade Finance to manage existing and emerging E&S risks
- Using their depth of expertise in several sectors and geographies to drive the E&S client strategy for the Group.
Qualifications
- Academic degree in Science, Management, Sustainability, Engineering that is specific to environmental and/or social risk, or specific to Industries (including Metals & Mining, Chemicals, Manufacturing, Agribusiness) or a similar technical/management study
- 5+ years of relevant working experience in the area of environmental and/or social risk, or in reputational and sustainability risk management within the Industry
- Experience in assessing risk and making decisions on clients and transactions is ideal(as discussed above)
- Good understanding of Risk management with track record of transforming risk management strategies into policies and standards
- Working knowledge of ESG risk regulatory landscape, with ability to structure risk management strategy to meet regulatory change in the horizon.
- Creativity and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident and self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within the financial sector a benefit but not essential.
- Strong Microsoft office skills with ability to handle large dataset of internal client information and risk assessment results including PowerPoint and presentation skills
