Key Responsibilities

 

  • Act as Block and Object Storage subject matter expert, providing strong guidance and direction in all aspects of the design and support of these services, asserting one’s technical authority to reach successful outcomes.
  • Act as the technical lead on initiatives and projects and take accountability for their delivery.
  • Ensure the global Block and Object Storage estate is available, performant, stable and resilient, and delivers to expected service levels.
  • Harness automation technologies wherever possible to simplify and increase efficiencies.
  • Work closely with peers to engineer solutions, develop designs, new products, standards and roadmaps.
  • Perform ad-hoc capacity and performance sizing exercises, demonstrating sound judgement, and giving coherent and presentable recommendations with clearly defined outcomes.
  • Deploy, build, test and integrate new assets into production, complying with the Bank’s procedural, technical and security standards.
  • Participate in data migrations, demonstrating a sound awareness of the migration flow, prerequisites and dependencies, testing, success criteria and risk mitigation. Deliver successful migrations with zero incidents.
  • Exercise advanced troubleshooting skills when responding to incidents, including major incidents and escalations; act as the incident situation-lead to lead collaborative efforts to successful resolution.
  • Storage provisioning and demand management. Review and assess storage allocation, deallocation requests while paying diligent consideration to operational standards/guidelines and current capacity and performance utilisations.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for escalations and major incidents.
  • Oversee routines and failures but periodically participate in out of hours support to fulfil production and project needs as required.

Skills and Experience

 

  • In-depth technical knowledge of Block and Object Storage technologies including PURE Storage arrays, Cisco SAN Fabric switches, Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) Object Storage platform product suite and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of MQE, HCI indexing engines.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAN Storage arrays and Fabric switches hardware knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Compute Technologies – Windows, Linux, AIX, VMware.
  • Knowledge of scripting/programming.
  • Knowledge of security scanning technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Preferable Block Storage – PURE, Hitachi, Dell; SAN Fabric – Cisco, Broadcom and Object Storage – Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) certifications.
