Job Summary

Standard Chartered Bank is looking for Director, AML Tax. This exciting opportunity could be based in several countries like Poland, India, Malaysia, or the Philippines. The main focus of this role is to provide thorough support in managing policies and standards, ensuring their effective implementation, and overseeing the Anti-Tax Evasion framework, which covers both client and non-client tax evasion activities within the bank. Plus, the person in this role will get to share their expertise as a Tax Evasion subject matter expert (SME) to CFCR and collaborate with various teams across the organization. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Group's risk management framework is adequate for managing tax evasion risks.
  • Provide tax knowledge to CFCR areas and enhance the AML control framework.
  • Develop communication and training programs for key functions and raise awareness of tax evasion risks.
  • Support transaction monitoring to identify tax evasion laundering.
  • Proactively identify tax evasion risks and develop a framework for managing money laundering risks linked to tax amnesties.
  • Provide expertise on tax for strategic reviews of high-risk areas.
  • Implement the UK CCO programme, enhancing tax evasion risk assessments and establishing prevention procedures.
  • Train stakeholders and monitor controls according to the CCO regime.
  • Understand the broader business and market environment.
  • Lead by example to build a strong culture and value
  • Manage risks related to tax evasion and collaborate with Group Tax to address significant issues impacting the Bank while anticipating and mitigating horizon risks.

Skills and Experience

  • Experienced tax professional with at least 5+ years of exposure to the financial services sector
  • Legal and/or accounting qualifications are required, with a preference for an advanced degree in Tax.
  • Profound understanding of tax issues affecting banking products and their structures is necessary
  • Robust background in tax risk management and experience in implementing effective controls within global banking operations are also vital.
