Job Summary

 

The role holder is expected to act with full autonomy under authority delegated by the Global Head, Colleague Conduct and will report directly to the ABC Global Policy Holder, Colleague Conduct. The role will work within the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Centre of Excellence (ABC COE), which covers the Europe & Americas, Africa & Middle East and Asia Regions in the Bank.

 

The role will serve in an advisory capacity for all ABC issues escalated to the ABC COE. This includes but is not limited to the following, all of which will require liaising with, reporting to, and/or taking direction from the ABC Global Policy Holder.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide input to Group/Region/Country/Business/Functions operating model design of ABC and business processes.
  • Implement the vision, strategy, direction and leadership for ABC COE, consistent with the vision and strategy for FCC and in support of the Group's strategic direction and growth aspirations.
  • Anticipate horizon risks in ABC activities that may have a significant impact on the Group and develop effective strategies to mitigate such horizon risks, including participating in "lessons learnt" initiatives (e.g., write ups for mass distribution and for ABC Country Lead Forum distribution).
  • Acting as a point of contact for inquiries across responsible countries.
  • Preparing papers, as appropriate, for relevant risk committees.
  • Providing training and advisory to local business and functions.
  • Lead on work involving the ABC Group Risk Assessment, liaising with the FCC Group Risk Assessment ("GRA") team. This includes advising on developing the methodology for inherent risk, control effectiveness and residual risk protocols and determinations, as well as leading on the calibration of results.
  • Support ABC advisory work with respect to dedicated functions/segment stakeholders and in in doing so, serve as a Risk Owner Delegate ("ROD") for one or more functions/segments.
  • Support the various projects across the ABC COE, including in an ROD role for a particular ABC Focus Area function or business.
  • Ensure that key changes (to laws, rules, regulations) are communicated and cascaded (in Region/Country) to relevant stakeholders, in coordination with group communications.
  • Support the implementation of ABC related policies and procedures in the Regions and at Group to ensure they effectively mitigate ABC risk.
     


 

Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent or a Bachelor degree in another area with a law degree, both from accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Experience and expertise in management of ABC risks and compliance in a large multinational financial institution, consulting firm or law firm in a similar role.
  • Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Ability to collaborate and work dynamically across country, region, business and group stakeholders.
  • Understanding of best practice risk management techniques and frameworks relating to ABC.
  • Detailed knowledge of laws, regulations, regulatory expectations relevant to ABC. Ability to anticipate, and where appropriate influence, regulatory changes.
  • Sound judgement on business practices, regulatory relationship management and reputational risk.
  • Understanding of U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA") and UK Bribery Act ("UKBA")
  • Subject matter expertise in assessing and managing bribery risk and violations of the FCPA, UKBA and other anti-corruption laws.
