Title: Associate Director Operational and Cyber Risk

Job Summary
Role will have responsibility for supporting and execution of the Operational Risk Framework, its related Policies and Standards in line with the regulatory requirements of the Bank. It is a 2nd line of defence role, where the role includes responsibility for overseeing, supporting, challenging and deciding operational risk matters at SCB AG.
The role requires expertise in internal controls, issue management, risk and control and self-assessment processes in the Operational risk domain, to ensure that the identified risk issues and associated remediation actions across the Bank are delivered and completed, with the highest levels of discipline and in line with Bank´s policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and partnership to first line Process Owners, Business Risk Managers, and fellow second line Risk Owners, fostering robust operational risk management practices throughout SCB AG.
- Lead and actively contribute to senior stakeholder engagements, effectively communicating complex risk issues and facilitating decision-making in risk committees and working groups.
- Own and execute key operational risk processes identified as first line responsibilities, ensuring compliance with Standard Chartered’s risk policies and frameworks.
- Support the Head of Operational Risk to oversee non-financial risk management, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory mandates.
- Drive continuous improvements in operational risk processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability in an evolving risk landscape.
- Act as the second line Operational Risk control owner for critical business and functional activities within Poland and the broader SCB AG region.
- Monitor operational risk governance adherence, including local execution of country-level processes and alignment with global standards and policies.
- Ensure compliance with Board-approved risk tolerances, escalating significant risk exceptions promptly to senior leadership and the Country Non-Financial Risk Committee.
- Embed SCB AG’s values and Code of Conduct within the Operational Risk function, cultivating ethical behaviour and regulatory compliance among teams.
- Assess strategic growth and operational risk exposures, providing insights to business planning and the development of controls for new products and processes.
- Lead operational risk assessments, including inherent and residual risk analysis, for both existing and newly integrated processes, ensuring accurate risk evaluation and mitigation alignment.
- Review and approve risk treatment plans and residual risk acceptance proposals within defined authorities to maintain operational risk appetite discipline.
- Conduct stress tests and scenario analyses related to operational technology and cyber risks to uncover vulnerabilities and recommend proactive management actions.
- Define corporate operational risk requirements for product management, change initiatives, and control frameworks, ensuring alignment and accountability across departments.
- Design and facilitate operational risk training programs within SCB AG to enhance awareness, capability, and compliance.
- Evaluate and decide on operational risk aspects of product launches and project or change management approvals, ensuring risks are comprehensively understood and mitigated.
Qualifications
- Operational risk management experience.
- Market Knowledge: Substantial experience in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role.
- Risk Management and Control: Demonstrated track record in successful management and expertise in process design and control.
- Regulatory Framework and Requirements: Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the Risk function.
- Non-technical Skills: Relationship management experience — with external stakeholders
- Business/function experience.
- A clear understanding of the Bank's approach to the management of operational risk, or equivalent experience gained in other organizations.
- Ability to leverage resources across the organizations to complete deliverables.
- Sound judgment and courage necessary to perform a control role and maintain effective working relationships.
