Job Summary

The role is part of the SCB AG Finance department which is responsible for all financial and management reporting for the Continental Europe region (covering Germany, France, Sweden and Poland), including supporting the various business heads, the local CEOs and all the Group functions and business teams across our Global footprint to understand, manage and drive complex business and operations. This person will be responsible for managing processes and controls to ensure the smooth functioning of reporting and controls in Financial Reporting.  It is not currently a people leader role. Alongside the business responsibilities, the right candidate will provide continuous contributions towards improvements in processes, controls and documentation through implementation of new systems or automations, elimination of non-value-added work and streamlining of functional procedures.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Analysis of monthly financial data and preparation of the month end close process including journal posting while ensuring compliance to relevant internal policy, local and IFRS accounting rules for all continental European Countries.
  • Undertake all aspects of the monthly P&L / Balance Sheet review activities in accordance with policy guidelines based on assigned processes.
  • Financial accounting/reporting activities such as reconciliation and substantiation of account balances, analytical review of variances in key account balances between periods, quarterly IFRS reporting to HO, Monthly IFRS reporting, other adhoc financial reporting.
  • Provide financial commentaries and analysis on business performance for CFO, Management Board and Supervisory board on both a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Regular interaction with the offshore team who produce reporting and key reconciliations.
  • Analyses and resolves common and complex reconciliation problems including suspense and transaction processing to ledger reconciliations and clearance.
  • Perform testing for new trade types and user acceptance testing (UAT) for new systems.
  • Manage reviews and checks of key controls standards and reporting results thereof.
  • Support on the audit requests and other requests sent by regulators, internal and external auditors.
  • Presentation of financial information to Directors
  • Perform governance related activities for the above process and ensure there are no delays e.g. Annual attestations, EUC management.

Skills and Experience

 

    • Bachelors or Master’s degree with extensive training and experience in Financial Reporting, in particular within Banking.
    • Extensive experience in working with key stakeholders across business functions and externally, including auditors and regulators.
    • Extensive training and experience in accounting under IFRS
    • Training and experience in accounting under German GAAP would be a strong advantage.
    • Training in IT and /or coding would be a strong advantage  
    • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.
    • Knowledge of functions, features and capabilities of financial and accounting systems; ability to use financial and accounting applications specific to the organization.
    • Knowledge of and ability to use processes, tools, and techniques for exploring and evaluating alternative financial scenarios and results.
