Job Summary

Operational Resilience enables the Group to prioritise the most important business services to its customers. It enables the product and segment CEOs to set impact tolerances thresholds for those services and ensures the operational assets which support those services are built, maintained, changed in BAU with resilient service in mind and can continue to provide those services during crisis.

The role-holder is the Subject Matter Expert for Operational Resilience and is responsible for the scenario testing programme, vulnerability management process and the ‘Resilience by Design’ initiative and it operationalisation.

The role-holder will work closely with key stakeholders across TTO, Business, Technology, Functions and the central Operational Resilience programme to ensure effective delivery of Resilience activities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the annual scenario testing programme to test the Group Important Business Services (IBS) against set impact tolerances. This includes the scenario selection process, test design, execution of scenario testing and reporting on scenario testing outcomes.
  • Responsible for demonstrating continuous improvement in the sophistication of testing methods.
  • Accountable for the vulnerability management process from all identified sources of vulnerability assessment, including from the outcomes of scenario testing.  
  • Accountable for the ‘Resilience by Design’ initiative to embed and operationalise IBS requirements into investment and change processes.
  • Accountable for designing and operating the BAU process to monitor and assess IBS requirements in Change processes across the bank. 
  • Ensure testing, vulnerability management and resilience by design processes and requirements are articulated fully in the Operational Resilience Standard.
  • Engage with Group Resilience stakeholders to ensure operational resilience requirements are embedding across Group Resilience strategy.
  • Align with Group Resilience and wider stakeholders across the organisation on dependencies that could impact operational resilience delivery.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of a sustainable scenario testing model, ensuring all elements are resourced effectively.
  • Accountable for the execution of the annual scenario testing plan including scenario design, test sessions and reporting of outcomes.
  • Responsible for ensuring outcomes from scenario testing are agreed with key stakeholders and communicated effectively and logged in risk management system of record.
  • Responsible for the effective design and implementation of ‘Resilience by Design’ into the appropriate Change and investment decision processes, including where vulnerabilities have been identified through testing.  

Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Operational Resilience, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong Operational Resilience regulatory and operational experience.
  • Third-Party Resilience and Risk experience.
  • Background and knowledge in the regulatory requirements around operational resilience, scenario testing and vulnerability managment.
  • Facilitating effective coordination between Country, Business & Function.
  • Strong background in Business continuity management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Business processes.
  • Written and verbal communication and presentation skill.
  • Strategic thinking and Knowledge of Change Management Initiatives.
  • People leader skills.
  • Expertise in Governance and support.
  • Subject matter expertise in Crisis Management.
  • Knowledge of Resolution and Recovery Planning.

Qualifications

•    Education          Degree in a related field and professional accreditation with a related industry body
•    Certifications     Business Continuity Management related certification (BCI, DRI etc.)
•    Languages        English
