Job Summary

 

Act as 2LoD (“Risk Controlling”) function within Treasury Risk to ensure the balance sheet across liquidity, funding, IRRBB and CSRBB is protected via risk management and review and challenge of 1LOD processes and activities, provide recommendations to key committees and senior management. 

 

A primary focus of the role is the ownership, oversight and continuous enhancement of IRRBB methodologies, in particular Economic Value of Equity (EVE) and Net Interest Income (NII). It also covers the cash flow methodology (as part of the newly introduced SSnC tool) and making sure the generated cash flows are fit for purpose. 

 

The role is also responsible for implementation (execution), independent review, explanation and challenge of monthly IRRBB reporting, ensuring methodological consistency, regulatory compliance and decision-useful risk insights for senior management and committees.

 

The function partners with the Model Development team acting as 2LoD model sponsor for IRRBB models as well Treasury and Finance.
In addition, the role contributes to oversight of Liquidity and Funding Risk and plays a key role in the ILAAP process, with a particular focus on liquidity stress testing design, governance and review.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Documenting internal guidelines including, the Risk Type Framework and relevant Policies and Standards. In addition, contribute to the Risk Strategy and Risk Inventory, as well as propose and monitor Risk Appetite and Early Warning Indicators.
  • Regulatory: Prudently oversee and review regulatory metrics including LCR, NSFR, and IRRBB metrics (EVE and NII), with explicit ownership of the underlying methodological framework and assumptions.
  • Corporate Planning: Review and challenge the corporate planning and effectively challenge the linkage to balance sheet forecasting.
  • Liquidity & Funding: Review and challenge Liquidity / IRRBB / CSRBB / funding / hedging strategy / treasury asset allocation investments.
  • To proactively identify material drivers of risk as well as change in regulatory requirements and make recommendations for improving risk management.
  • Own and maintain the 2LoD view on IRRBB methodologies (EVE and NII), including implementation, challenge of modelling assumptions (e.g. NMD behaviour, prepayments, early redemptions).
  • Act as 2LoD model sponsor for IRRBB models, partnering with Model Development to ensure compliance with model risk management standards, validation findings and regulatory expectations.
  • Perform review, challenge and sign-off of monthly IRRBB reporting (EVE/NII), including key drivers, sensitivities and limit monitoring.
  • Play a key role in the ILAAP process, with a focus on liquidity stress testing, including scenario design, assumption challenge, result interpretation and alignment with regulatory guidance (e.g. survival horizon).

Skills and Experience

 

  • Experience in Treasury and balance sheet management
  • Experience in banking regulatory framework
  • Substantial experience in the banking industry or consultancy with specific expertise in treasury activities and risk management, strong experience in treasury markets, treasury liquidity, irrbb and csrbb.
