Title: Senior Backup Engineer

Job Summary
This role will be responsible for developing global key strategy and standards for Backup and Recovery in Standard Chartered Bank, taking into consideration all available technologies and business requirements. It will be responsible for the design and planning Standard Chartered Bank’s backup and recovery estate and for providing it with correct levels of security and resilience standards for operation teams implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify & recommend new products or technology that can add value to the organization and align to the storage strategic goals.
- Work with Security Technology Services to ensure Storage architecture design/solutions can meet bank security standards.
- Develop RFPs/RFIs, oversee product evaluations, coordinate product selections, ensuring pricing, terms and conditions meet bank IT standards.
- Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the group operates.
- As a critical technology service for the bank, ensure Storage architecture design have high availability to remains stable and performing optimally.
- Ensure that Storage Engineering complies with the Technology Services processes within the Architecture Framework. These include, Security Architecture & Capability Authority (SACA), Technology Services Technology Council (TSTC) and Infrastructure Architecture Standards.
- Ensure the team always follows operational best practices. Ensure the highest levels of ownership, accountability and service are maintained within the team.
- Review, uphold and enforce all Bank technical, security, quality, and engineering standards on supported products.
- Ensure compliance with Bank ITSM processes such as Incident, Change and Problem Management.
- Manage Storage product lifecycle (support dates, investment status), features, bugs, CVE’s and security standards.
- Proactively identify risks and issues or react to them in a timely manner to minimise any potential impact. Create and implement remediate plans to resolve any non-compliance.
- Support auditory, regulatory and risk and compliance initiatives that contain deliverables related to the Storage Engineering.
Skills and Experience
- In-depth technical knowledge of Cohesity and/or Veritas.
- Strong knowledge of Dell Data Protection Suite, including Dell Avamar, Dell Data Domain, Dell Data Protection Advisor, Dell Data Protection Central, Dell Data Protection Search, Dell NetWorker.
- Advanced knowledge of scripting/programming using BASH, KSH, PowerShell, Python.
- Knowledge of ARCserve Backup and ARCserve Unified Data Protection.
- Knowledge of Oracle StorageTek Tape Library and Oracle Key Manager Appliance.
- Knowledge of Quantum Scalar i Series Tape Library and Thales SafeNet KeySecure k Series Appliance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Preferable any Storage and Engineering certifications.
