Title: Senior Compute Development Engineer

Job Summary
This role is part of a team tasked to manage on-prem infrastructure estate. The team is in charge of knowing the estate’s composition, controlling it and optimizing it. The team should know what products are in use, where, why and ensure usage meets Bank standards across the Bank’s global footprint. The role requires developing innovative solutions to allow visibility of usage of our products and the roll-out of improvements.
The experienced candidate should come from a strong software engineering and development background. The selected candidate will have code development, solution engineering and BAU responsibilities. The individual should be used to do software version control, producing documentation and agile workload management.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecting and developing high-quality, scalable software solutions.
- Providing technical leadership and guidance.
- Design, and develop innovative solutions to allow visibility of usage of our products and the roll-out of improvements.
- Write and test code, refining and rewriting it as necessary and communicate with stakeholders.
- Integrate existing software products and get incompatible platforms to work together.
- Enable dashboard visualizations of estate management initiatives.
- Apply end-to-end observability principles to estate management.
- Curate estate asset inventory.
- Drive estate cost optimization.
- Identify and drive vendor spend efficiencies.
- Drive obsolescence remediation.
- Drive non-standard remediation.
- Drive non-strategic technology retirement and strategic technology adoption.
- Drive estate management process improvements.
- Police non-compliant usage of technology products.
- Coordinate remediation actions between internal and external stakeholders.
- Track delivery through user stories and story boards.
- Version control estate management related code.
- Produce and maintain estate management documentation.
- Taking ownership of projects from conception to delivery, ensuring successful outcomes.
Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer/Dev Lead in the Banking industry.
- Extensive experience in developing in Python (preferably), or other common programming language (Java, Javascript, Go, etc), and a proven track record of successful projects.
- Experience working with a wide range of technology infrastructure, virtualization platforms, operating systems, server hardware, storage, data centres, cloud.
- Capable of building new features and functionality as well as update and improve existing code.
- Front-end and back-end code development.
- Technical understanding of front-end web technologies, operating systems and platforms.
- Data driven individual.
- Diagnostic skills for identifying why programs that do not meet requirements and how to improve them.
- Problem-solving for improving programs and resolving bugs.
- Ability to collaborate with a large and diverse variety of stakeholders.
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills oral and written in English.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and deliver.
