Job Summary

Senior DevOps Engineer candidates should have a strong background on Linux Shell Scripting, Jenkins, Ansible and Containers. Kubernetes and AWS/GCS/Azure experience would be really nice to have. The candidate will be pragmatic, with a delivery mindset and a desire to deliver constant business value through the effective use of technologies with a proven background in delivering high quality software. The candidates will work closely with business stakeholders to deliver to exacting requirements working in a dynamic global team across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and implementation of DevOps that covers:
    • CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance,
    • Automated deployment,
    • Infrastructure management (Physical Servers, VMs, Storage, Database, etc.),
    • Obsolescence remediation,
    • Configuration management,
    • System logging and monitoring,
    • Security scanning and issue fix,
    • Containerization,
    • Kubernetes deployment,
    • AWS cloud deployment,
    • System migration to new infrastructure / deployment platform,
    • New technology / tool POCs and onboarding.
  • Communicate with bank's infra teams to raise requests and discuss/fix issues e.g. Unix/Container/AD/DB teams.
  • Communicate with Central DevOps and other DevOps teams across the bank for knowledge/info/idea exchange.
  • Champion DevOps innovations by introducing better tools and agile practices.

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of software development, engineering or DevOps experience.
  • Strong experience in modern DevOps technology stack.
  • Strong experience in container and Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience in agile methodologies and working in agile teams.
  • Experience in software development using open source technologies is a plus.
  • Nice to have experience in working with distributed systems.
  • Experience in release management is a plus.
  • Nice to have experience in promoting DevOps culture in other organizations.
  • Highly effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to make good / sound decisions and use independent judgement.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to be organized and multi-tasked on different requirements across various stakeholders, and to work independently and under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to details and time management.
  • Good track record of communicating effectively with both business and IT staff at all levels.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness to work with a range of people from diverse background and geographies.
  • Good presentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge in scripting languages such as Linux Shell, Groovy.
  • Strong knowledge in Source Control tool of Git, and GitFlow as the branching strategy.
  • Strong knowledge in CI/CD toolset such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, JaCoCo, SonarQube, JIRA, Ansible and Artifactory.
  • Knowledge in Domain-Driven Design, Microservices Architecture, Micro-Frontend Architecture, REST API, Spring Boot
  • Knowledge in Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as IntelliJ IDEA, VS Code.
  • Knowledge in databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle.
  • Knowledge in automated testing toolset such as jUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Selenium etc.
  • Knowledge in monitoring, log analysis and dashboard tools such as ELK stack, Splunk, Zipkin, Prometheus, Grafana etc.
  • Knowledge in Authentication and Authorisation frameworks and tools, e.g. Kerberos, SSO, OUD, AD/LDAP, JWT, Spring Security.
  • Knowledge in Server Management, Networking, Virtualisation/Virtual Machine.
  • Knowledge in Storage systems e.g. SSD, SAN, NAS, AWS S3, HCP, MinIO.
  • Knowledge in Containers and Container Platforms e.g. Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS EKS.
  • Knowledge in Big Data technologies e.g. Hadoop, HDFS, Spark.
  • Knowledge in Cloud Platforms e.g. AWS, Azure.
