Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a front-office electronic trading platform supporting Rates and Credit businesses. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining custom Java components primarily running on the ION MarketView platform. You will work closely with business and technology stakeholders, contribute to platform stability and scalability, support re-engineering initiatives, and play an active role in the adoption of agile practices and automated testing. The position offers end-to-end ownership of development tasks, exposure to real-time trading environments, and involvement in production support for mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and document Java components for front-office electronic trading platforms
- Build and maintain solutions primarily on the ION MarketView platform
- Re-engineer existing Java components to improve stability, performance and maintainability
- Develop and consume REST APIs and integrate with React-based front-end components
- Support CI/CD processes using ADO pipelines for build and deployment
- Provide L3 production support in a complex trading environment
- Deliver projects end-to-end, from analysis and design through implementation and production support
- Implement automated testing for new development using Cucumber/Gherkin
- Write automated functional and performance tests
- Contribute to the continuous adoption and improvement of agile (Scrum) development practices
Skills and Experience
- Strong Core Java development skills
- Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- Solid knowledge of RESTful microservices and HTTP protocols
- Experience with SQL (Oracle or other relational databases)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, including Git, Maven and ADO pipelines
- Experience working in Linux environments, including basic shell scripting
- Knowledge of JSON and XML protocols
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (Cucumber, Gherkin)
- Experience with electronic trading systems, preferably in Fixed Income (Rates and/or Credit)
- Knowledge of real-time pricing and trading architectures
- Experience with ION Java API and ION MarketView platform (strong advantage)
- Understanding of trading workflows such as RFQ, price contribution and trade capture
- Exposure to exchange-traded products and front-office systems
- Ability to work independently and run tasks or projects with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex production environments
- Experience working across the full SDLC, from inception to delivery and support
